Trendy nurseries on a budget January 16 2015

You don’t need to be stuck with pink, blue or yellow for your baby’s room. Nowadays your nursery is just as stylish as the rest of your house. Here are a few ideas that are trending at the moment that you can easily incorporate.

Nautical Navy
Instead of going for a boring baby blue for your wall, add more sophistication with a deep nautical navy colour that will stay up to date as your baby grows. Add a few accent items that will stand out against the darker backdrop.

Bookshelf Decor
Instead of having all the books with their beautiful fun covers stuffed into a bookshelf, display them by using floating shelves to add a bit of colour to the wall. This also makes it easy for your little one to choose their bed time story (although most of the time they ask you to read the same old one).

Revamp the room with vinyl wall decals
One of the easiest and cost effective ways to revamp the room is with fun and trendy wall decals. The great thing is that it looks like it has been painted on the wall but is actually very easy to apply and remove so you can constantly give the room an update with different decals. For wall decal ideas visit the ohdivine.co.za catalogue and order online.

Tribal Trend

The tribal trend with arrows and tepees are making an appearance. I love combining the trending mint colour with this specific theme. Print the images you like and get them framed.

Choose fabric to go with the theme and make bunting to go across the room.

Texture and Layering
We often find that the trends that come through in fashion end up in our house without us knowing. Using different textures, especially in a baby’s room is a great way for them to learn and feel different materials.

But no matter what trend you decide to go for in your baby's room, make sure it stays unique and that baby will feel at home and comfortable in the room. Remember this is what your new wonder will stare at for the first few months of their life, and could have a bigger impact than we imagine. Happy decorating!
